Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas with the national policy of education . These schools are spread in 28 States and 07 Union Territories. These are co-educational residential schools fully administered by Government of India through an autonomous organization named Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Admissions in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNVST) for Class VI are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA SELECTION TEST. The medium of instruction in JNVs is regional language up to Class VIII class and English thereafter for Maths, Science, Hindi and Social Science. these schools are free residential and complete free education,with a nominal fee of Rs. 600/- per month for the 9th to 12th class students. Govt. employees who are eligible for children education allowance, have to pay fee @ Rs.1500/- per month. no need to pay Fee for the children belonging to SC/ST, Girls, Divyang and from families whose income is below poverty line (BPL).

Eligibility criteria
Studying in Class V in academic Session 2017-18 in a Govt / Govt.recognized school in the same district, where JNV is functioning and to which they are seeking admission.
Studied and passes classes 3 and 4 from Govt/Govt.recognized school.
Should study for full academic session in Class-V from the same district from where admission is sought.

- 75% seats for children from schools located in rural areas.
- 1/3 seats for girls
- 3% seats for Divyang children
- Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Seats as per Goi norms.
